Frequently Asked Questions

1) What operating systems and browsers will VPCB support?

To interact with the online environment requires a Windows PC with Internet Explorer 6.0 minimum, or Firefox 3.0 to 3.0.19 and 3.6. Mac with Firefox 3.0 to 3.0.19 and 3.6 and Safari 3.1 or higher are also supported. We support Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 on PCs. Leopard, Tiger, and Snow Leopard are supported on Macs. Linux Fedora Core 10 is also a supported operating system. Macromedia Flash Player 10 or higher is required. Access to the internet using high-speed access (Cable, DSL, Network) is highly recommended for the overall environment and is required for all presentations. Pop-up blockers must also be disabled, and cookies and JavaScript should be enabled. On entering the environment, a system check is run, which will identify computer requirements that need to be addressed to interact with the online environment. It is recommended to view the environment with the display resolution of 1024 x 768. To run the system check, click here.

2) Will conversations, chat and instant messaging within my booth be confidential?

All one-on-one chats within your booth space are secure and private. The chat dialog can only be seen by you, the exhibitor, and by the attendee to whom you are speaking. Group chats located in the lounge are treated as an open forum and can be viewed by all those that enter the lounge.

3) What specific reports will I, as an exhibitor, have access to?

  • Booth Visitors: Once an attendee enters your booth, you capture all their contact information: name, job title, company, address, email, facility type, primary job function, primary end product, as well as how long they stayed in your booth, etc.
  • Booth Tab Visitors: For each tab you have within your booth, you will get a report of who clicked on that tab and how long they viewed the information.
  • Booth Document/Link Users: This report states which attendee downloaded specific documents posted within your booth so you can track their interests.
  • Booth Giveaway Entries (If Applicable)
  • Plus, a complete list of all registered attendee data (for Level II Booth Exhibitors).

4) What kind of compelling technical content will you offer to drive attendance?

Much of the industry is unable to attend face-to-face events, yet 100% of the industry uses the Internet. That portion of the industry unable to attend face-to-face events is our target audience. Based on the first Virtual PCB, users found it easy to meet suppliers and view product demos. Over 4500 views of videos or demos were tracked at the March 2010 VPCB event. While exhibitors drive much of the "content," UP Media is working with a host of leading experts to provide compelling technical and industry information. Topics include RF design, PCB simulation and verification, lean manufacturing, selective soldering, lead-free assembly, parts placement and routing, component handling and storage, and solder paste inspection.
